God I love ghosts. Also, a middle aged protagonist is so refreshing. I feel the answer to the mystery is one of three things:
1. Mary really is a victim reincarnated. Probably the Sheriff since it seems she was born when he died.
2. Mary is crazy. She killed the dog, and the new victim. 3. Cult
It could be a mix of all 3. Also, maybe the gardener is the ghost of the mayor or the killer?

It’s probably because I’m not used to books so short or YA, but these relationships do not feel earned. Especially everyone’s obsession with Cassie.

Trying to re-read as much as I can before the sequel comes out. I’m realizing that despite adoring this book the first time I had no clue what was going on.

You can’t treat natives as “just Indians” and expect them to not treat Americans as “just napikwan”

Three Persons narrator kinda sounds like James Earl Jones, or the guy from Forensic Files. Makes me feel very nostalgic.
And kinda sleepy.

I guess my October will just be historical horror books. This time the buffalo slaughter but with indigenous vampires. The book doesn’t hold your hand though I’m already going to have to re-read some chapters. I’m having trouble figuring out the translations for Blackfeet words. So far I have:
Pikuni = Blackfeet
Napikwan = white people

The girl: “being evil is bad”

Literally everyone else: “🫵 WITCH”

Really like how this is small stories of the same trip. Since I’m reading about a chapter a day it reads like a tv show. Yesterday was the cult episode and today was the pirate episode!

Also, I feel so stupid because every now and then the book repeats almost randomly “A fucking hand!” And I only noticed just now. No clue what it means though.

I’ve decided I’ve never actually read a true horror book until this one.

Omg now they got stuck in what is basically hotel California filled with talking corpses. If they don’t listen to this little girl!!

My love for all things horror has me searching for good horror books and a medieval fantasy horror about a knight a child and a priest traveling through the black plague sounds like just the kind of weirdo niche book I can make part of my personality.
Or I won’t like it. It’s good so far though. I love the plague!

I like to picture astrophage as sea monkeys.

So now he knows there’s heroin, nitrogen, and a gun on the ship. I’m worried the suicide memory wasn’t just for the nitrogen. I’m worried Yao’s gun becomes chekov’s gun if you know what I men.

Started this because there was a meteor shower this week and also I’d like to finish this before the movie comes out.
I made a bookmark with Ryan Gosling on it and have been using it for this book then the trailer came out and he’s the star of the movie. I like to think I did that somehow.

This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever read.

The one time I want an enemy to lovers romantasy plotline it’s in a high fantasy book with the girl engaged to someone else. Adolin better step up his game because if I was Shallan I’d drop everything for Kaladin lmao.

No wonder this is so many people’s favorite book I just read this chapter like my favorite team was winning the superbowl! I even clapped at one point.

1 book and 350 pages later the main characters finally meet and she ends up thinking he’s rude and stealing his boots lmao

When Shallan went to that magic place that’s not a place to talk to a boat and Pattern suddenly had limbs and a cloak it reminded me of that SpongeBob episode where SpongeBob went into Gary’s dream and Gary just has a body for some reason.

Piranesi is such a charming character. What a beautiful world he lives in.

I’m glad we’re out here and he’s in there and he’s the sheriff and we’re frozen out here and we’re in here and I just remembered where’s the caveman?

How this book feels sometimes

Tried to listen to this while trying to fall asleep and ended up launching myself out of bed from surprise of what just happened

“This IS for my men” THATS WHY HES A SLAVE?!?!!?! NOOOOO

Made it to part 2 and so far I am loving this. I am interested in all 3 main stories especially Kaladin’s.
