I tried this once before and couldn’t handle it. Let’s give it a second shot.

I think I would sell my soul to be able to write like this.

Feeling iffy about this one, buuut it’s for a trauma-based book club. Going to try to trust the reviews.

The prose is lovely so far, anyway.

“military, deployment orders”
“bleached, desert sand”
“expeditionary, surgical facility”

Look. I love the Oxford comma as much as anyone else, but this is ridiculous. I am revoking this author’s comma privileges. And his editor’s, too.

Oh yikes. Phrases like “our nation’s most elite warrior patriots” make me want to quit. But I am stubborn, and despite the off-putting military chapters and the frankly WEIRD comma usage, I will persist.

“I am sorry to admit that I am losing respect for many psychiatrists.”
....k. But maybe let’s also not refer to psychiatric patients as “mentally disturbed” or “morbidly obese fat”.
