I started this collection many years ago now, but for some reason I never got around to finishing it, despite getting pretty close to the end. I want to actually get through it this time.

Wasn’t sure what to make of this at first, but it’s been pretty good so far. Not particularly sold on the romance aspect, but I like it as a step on Mira’s blossoming emotional journey.

Before you wonder at me reading 214 pages mere minutes after marking it on Goodreads, I have been working through it the past day or so and simply forgot to mark it on here

And *now* we’re finally using the word isekai. This book is actually written by two people, so do you think one is a weeb and the one who kept calling it a portal fantasy isn’t?

Wondering if people really do refer to these kinds of stories as portal fantasies instead of isekai in non-weeb spaces. The book only uses portal fantasy, but it did just mention the truck-kun trope by name, so it is coming from a place of weebery. So why not isekai?

Love picking up a comic book right in the middle of a story era you aren’t familiar with and trying to figure out who’s supposed to be dead at this point in the continuity. “Professor X is dead”, well don’t worry, he’ll be back in a year or two.

Figured out what I dislike about the writing so much. Every description is a simile. Every noise is like some animal. Every gaze is the prick of a needle, or a nettle, or some such prodding device. Like. As. Such.

Yeah, not super sold on the inclusion of fae in a Robin Hood story. Also, so not charmed by our Robin here either. I’ve admittedly only just met him, but he’s coming off as less of a plucky trickster and more of an “alpha male” type. I’ve yet to be sold on the necessity of this being a Robin Hood retelling at all.
