One of the hardest things about reading a YA novel is taking a step back when I am bothered a teenager is not reacting the way I would as an adult. I was frustrated by this scene, but then stepped back to think about 18 yo me would have responded.

Everyone is dressed to the nines to go out, but instead you join Emerson in the shower. Scenes like this don’t feel sexy, they just take me out of the story

Why is every interaction so unnatural and awkward? Like no one talks like an actual human being having a conversation.

This would be more interesting and the staring/glaring actually make a lot more sense if Tristian was actually mute.

📚 The Mark by Persephone Steel

This was a three-star read for me. It was interesting enough that I might pick up the completed book to see where the story goes, but I felt like there were some writing bumps.

One, the FMC is really unlikeable. Two, what the hell is going on?

So she gets her “not like the other girls” from her mom. Cool cool

Yeah, this really should have been the moment Kitty looks at both of them and tells them to F off

Oof. It has been a while since I read fresh off the boat, and watched the TV series in between. I forgot how much they changed his family for television.

I really don’t understand the Brianna/Levi interactions. Given how in tune she has been with Jacob, this is just starting to feel callous.

Teenage Andarna is the best part of the book

Seriously, did I skip a book?! Now we are just dropping both King and his daughter’s first name causally like it’s not the first time it’s been uttered in 2200+ pages?

Wtf. Now London actually knows the sister’s name?! I swear this is the most duct taped together plot I have ever read.

Again, this is supposed to be Eden’s book, but Clay fixes things with Jade first?

I’m really hating the way Clay keeps using “we” and “us,” constantly framing everything as though it’s Jade & Clay v Eden. I’m having a hard time seeing how we get to a HEA

I believe you mean plaiting…pelting her hair would be very different
