It feels so weird to start one book and then immediately go and start another one… in the same universe and series- BUT here we go, ready (kind of) for this wild ride.

“Win me back my kingdom Evangeline” I love baby Evangeline so much. 🥹
I think we see a much more queenly Aelin here now, and how much she truly loves and wants to fight for her kingdom (screw Darrow tho. The old man upsets me)

A bittersweet but good ending to this book. I had forgotten so many details of this one, and it was a really good reread. I think I feel a lot differently about these characters now (especially Chaol) and I appreciate and love them even more.
Ending quotes- “She hoped” and “Then she stepped beyond the stone.” So many new beginnings. So excited for the tandem read next.

Rereading this book knowing Asterin’s story now UGH THE DETAILS!!

Ugh… so many emotions. Such a cliffhanger ending to transition into the rest of this series. So many sad scenes. But so well written.
So excited to read the next book.
“She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius—and she would not be afraid” oh Sam how you will forever haunt the narrative 🥺

“He started chanting her name, like a prayer” UGH their early friendship, to carranam, to her saving him, and the blood oath (to their relationship growth in the future) is genuinely so good- and I’m enjoying all the details I missed or forgot from my first read.
“You wanted a demonstration- one thought from me and your city will burn” hehehe my goated queen

I did not think I would cry with this book- ugh this series makes me so emotional 🥺
little Aelin’s story 😭

I flew through this book today. I forgot how good this was, so much is happening, but I love all the details, emotions, pain/grief, and overcoming that happens. Very good portrayal here.
So many good lines too, “you cannot pick and choose what parts of her to love” “who did this you” 🤭 “Because I am lost- and I do not know the way” 😭😭 etc etc- more to come

“There you are” is giving the aggressive version of “there you are, I’ve been looking for you”

She doesn’t even remember the stories from her homeland and childhood 🥺🥺😭

Gotta say, first time I read this series, I was really wondering why we suddenly had a new pov with Manon… and now I like her as a character, so I’m excited to reread her with a different perspective

Back on the main timeline now, let’s go

I did not get through this reread without a dry eye… your girl was crying so hard 😔 such a good book, and I definitely recommend reading this first if you haven’t read this series before

FIRST OF ALL - smooth
Second- ofc it’s smooth, it’s my man Dorian
Third- THE CRAZY FORESHADOWING HOLY MOLY OKAY

I love the Assassin and the Healer story. I think it sets a good arc for Yrene’s involvement for the end of the series and also further shows Celaena’s small acts of kindness.
I love that the main lesson of this series is that small acts of kindness can go a long way, and may even change the world- which we really see with these characters.

A really good reread, I had forgotten so much from this book and found that I enjoyed it much more the second time.
Definitely a turning point in the series and when things start to get more intense.

No better time to read than when you’re stuck in bed sick 🥲
