There were so many small moments in this book that adored or found humorous, but overall this story has a very serious tone. Poor Corbin though, please don’t listen to your brother’s bad advice 😭
So glad to see Adam make an appearance, even if it was small. I loved the last chapter of what happens after they’re married! Shows they still struggle, but they help and care for each other.

UGH this book hit me in the feels. Of all her books, this one touches the most on faith, sin, the church and having a relationship with God, which I was not expecting but really enjoyed! Layton’s struggle over his sin and how he felt God hated him, to the realization that God forgives and has grace was sweet to see. Very much looking forward to Corbin’s book as well.

Ugh just finished this. Overall, I really liked this book. I think because Philip is so intriguing and important for the overall series, it was so cool to see his main thoughts. I also liked Sorrel, and meeting her family was really sweet. I love that their relationship didn’t feel too rushed? Might be my favorite of this series and it’s only book 1.

I have to write a third note cuz WOW. If you had asked me when I read the Lancaster series what Philip’s profession was, or what he did for a living, I would not have been able to tell you. Starting this book is wild but so intriguing. I think I will enjoy this one immensely. (Reading this after TCP and CoB is also interesting 😂)

Plot twist- I knew Philip liked to wear a “mask” or rather a facade… and thought it was due to grief that he was trying to cover…. WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT

I’ve been waiting to read this book since Loving Lieutenant Lancaster IM SO READY FOR PHILIPS LOVE STORY (I lowkey love Philip, he’s another Henry in this series for me- there shall be no Philip slander in this household)

Better than I expected. If you’re looking for an Anthony Bridgerton type of Male Lead, but a clean regency romance book, this is a good one. I liked their humor and the fun banter they had between them.

Highly recommend reading with dark academia music (was listening to Clair de Lune and Floating in Reverie during the scene with Jude and Locke at Locke’s estate and it worked so well)
