so far i like it but it’s for sure giving priest. it’s also darker than any of her other works which has me lowkey shocked. however i did chew through half of it in like 2 hours so it’s clearly a page turner

i feel like the decisions made by the author in the first book really come into play in the second book - but i’m still left questioning a lot. i feel better about the book now than i did at 28% but i’m still struggling to justify a lot of the plot.

i just question so many of the author’s decisions when writing this book

this book is a nightmare

this book is so stressful and i don’t like what i am reading.

i get that this book confronts a lot of the realities behind h.t. - but like god damn. i can do torture - but sa is not my cup of tea.

i am big on the idea that you don’t need graphic detail to generate the same impact and discomfort…

so i’m basically just like pushing thru just to finish atp. not a huge fan atm

ok so i'm 10% into the second installment and here are my thoughts so far:

- the warning at the start of the book has me a bit concerned. i like dark romances, but it has me expecting some terrible stuff
- i like that we picked up right where we left off bc it created an easy gap to bridge in between books
- i already know the reunion will not happen in the first 50% of the book so i'm a bit annoyed already

so the murder plot has failed to move along and i think i’m past the part that was connected to the suggested prequel. i feel like part of the HT / Z plot still needs to move along too - but we’ve made some relationship progress, except the mc still isn’t convinced of her feelings and it throws me tf off

ok so the murder mystery has now been p much fully introduced, which is a nice twist that i didn't anticipate the story to have. also maybe i've been reading too many mafia novels, but like the guy seems pretty normal to me lmao -- so i have yet to get that twisted feeling. it also helps that he's a h.t. vigilante -- makes it hard to hate the guy imho

it always takes me a bit to get through the first 10% of a book - but once i get past it i tend to get through it pretty fast. so far, so good, a little slow but not too terrible. I am excited to see how the story develops.

ok i meant to update yesterday and then i didn't. i have grown to like Ronan more but i'm still just like he's a little too much of an AH for my taste. Idk, i get where he's coming from but I find him to be so annoying lmao. I do wish there had been more solid reasons for this girly to go from ihy to ily - but such is the case with these books. i am excited to finish.

im only 30% thru w this book and i've already gone on such an emotional roller coaster. i still haven't decided how i feel about Ronan, but i do know that for the first time i actually feel TERRIBLE for the MC. And listen - i've read some dense and annoying MCs but I just genuinely feel terrible for this one. Like can she just catch a break ffs. Nobody is on her side and she is so clueless it hurts. Updates to come!

whatever this 10 year back and forth relationship between these two is - i’m really here for it. i wish they talked to each other more but this time it’s working out wayy better than in book 1

i was a little confused in the beginning but once i sorted it out i started going through it quite quickly. so far i am intrigued -- it's giving wretched vibes but different. it is also quite fast paced with a good fair share of time jumps, so we'll see if the story keeps me entertained
