This was not a particularly interesting book. I didn't find the story to be one worth telling. The plot was predictable and the sentences quite often too long.

Tom's childhood sounds very much like my own. PS- I'm a girl and a late 80s kid.

I hate children's books. I only gave this a try because it was from Mark Twain and he is a god of literature. It's okay. Wouldn't read any sequels though.

This books get worse, and more blatantly racist, the longer I read it.

Forcing myself through this crap. Sounds like the random ranting of a man with an obsession that the rest of us shouldn't give two cents about. Boring. Racist. Bigotted. Offensive.

The book started off well enough, but I am now thoroughly annoyed by the portrayal of Abraham Lincoln, and the kiss-ass writing style of the author, which makes Lincoln seem not at all realistic.

Ellena is driving me up a wall. At this point, I am incapable of sympathising with her and her emotional conflict. I don't admire her either.

Vivaldi and Paulo, however, are amazing characters and make up for the huge gap that Ellena leaves unfilled. Still very much interested in reading this book, so the journey continues..

Still pretty interesting, but regretfully I don't have as much time for reading as I'd like. The suspense is kinda getting me though, but that is more likely a result of my lack of patience, than an apparent fault of the writer..

Thus far, I'm greatly interested. Vivaldi's passionate personality is marvellous to watch unfold. Let's see what else the author has in store... O_O

"THE DIARY OF MR. POYNTER" seems to follow the same style of creating a mystery and then finding some letter or journal of sorts that explains everything. It was an okay story. I wouldn't say I was particularly impressed, but it was readable.

"A Thin Ghost" was an interesting tale, but I think not so very well told. I would have liked to know more about Saul, and even moreso, I would have liked a better ending.

Really wish I had more time to read, but it gets more interesting the farther in I delve. Can't wait to start the Hobbit.

Don't really have much time for reading these days but pushing through. This book becomes more bearable the more of it I read, but I'm still not all that impressed.

It's not so horrible now that I've gotten this far. I wouldn't say I'm hooked but I've at least developed an interest where before I only had a dread.

Oh Wow. There was an actual story behind all that character detail? Never made it this far before.

Attempting to read this book for the 3rd time.

Not as good as it was in the beginning. The writing is okay but the plot is just really drawn out at this point. In short, I'm not even curious. Just bored.

Really like it so far, but unfortunately, I do have to go to bed. Darn it.

Finished Book 1. Not really sure how or where to find the second half of the book. Sad because the first half was certainly quite interesting.
