I chose this book, in part because Sherman Alexie is a local author whom I wanted to become acquainted with. I also wanted to read his work because of his Native American background, and I am interested in writing ethnically diverse characters, especially for YA readers.

Just like the last time I attempted to get through this, I'm finding it really difficult to "get into it".

This is Scott's fourth book of the Pale Boundaries series, and so far it lives up to my expectations. Lot's going on, clever storytelling, and memorable characters. I continue to marvel at Scott's ability to create sympathetic villains.

I have this book on my literal bookshelf for over a decade, having inherited it. Now I find it remarkably relevant given events happening in Ukraine.
