Well, I'm reading again after Cataract Surgery and read another 40 pages today.
In the 40 pages Sofia (the most sympathetic character) has perhaps had an abortion and I'm trying to read between the lines to try and figure out if this is true.

Hmm. This is a very carefully written and also a very sad book. I suspect that this was the authors intent.
