I can't tell you how many times people have suggested that I read this book. It hasn't dissappointed. I wish this wasn't the story of so many.

So gooooooood. So many themes. Can't wait to talk about this one!

It just never gets old. I feel so many things, including pity for the capital. So lost...and yet, so much freedom is felt in the districts. The themes of patriotism, loyalty, empathy, love (though twisted) and the value of human life have me reeling.

"Memories are shape-shifters and dreams are not bound by truth...But not everything that gets broken can be repaired."

Oh Suzanne....You had me hooked at the onset of the epigraph. I can't wait to listen to this one.

Book club is reading this dystopian treasure. I haven't read Animal Farm since high school. I never got to read this one. I'm already gasping at this quote on pg 6. "Either the future would resemble the present in which case it would not listen to him, or it would be different from it, and his predicament would be meaningless." I'm in for a treat with this classic!

Audiobooking this one. I'm trying to get into it. I'm at the halfway mark, and I'm missing more action more magic and more dragons. Please tell me it gets better.

I am in love with Cisneros' writing. She leaves nothing undescribed...the details...the desciptions are so full of life...this book sucks you into all the stories, the history, and the culture. I wish I had read this book earlier in my young adult life. Pass this recommendation on to anyone who is just beginning to study Spanish. The Spanish vocabulary thrown in is but another beautiful layer of why this is amazing!
