The sexuality and gender identity chapter still needs some work, though it is slightly better than the previous edition.

There’s still a lot of work that needs to be done on those who do not fit into the gender binary or come from varied backgrounds (i.e. different races, cultures, countries, socioeconomic backgrounds, classes, those with higher support needs, etc.). I would have liked to see how and if these differences would have impacted the presentation of ASD.

I like how there are some things that were addressed here, such as the whole idea about the people who are diagnosed often have the privilege and resources to seek out a professional diagnosis. I am also pleasantly surprised to see that Hendrickx included additional about the sample that was used, such as the fact that they were often white and come from higher socioeconomic backgrounds.

So far, I believe that this is much better than the first edition. Hopefully the chapters on eating and gender identity will show some updates and improvements.

Now this is a good book.
