This book really dragged. The title is misleading, as the story isn't really about Anna, but rather a lot of self-indulgence in Levin. There is an interesting plot, but one has to patiently wade through hundreds of pages of philosophizing to follow it. Even as the story reaches its inevitable climax, one has to continue for another 50 pages stuck in Levin's mire.
But such is Tolstoy.
