the way my expectations for this could not be higher

I'm not sure how to feel about this everyone. Everything should be lining up for me, the subject matter is right up my alley, I've historically liked all the TJR books I've read in the past but this is just kinda meh so far. Hoping it picks up

Ok girls, the prose is a little more difficult than what I was expecting but perhaps that's because I havent read a classic in a bit. Excited to see how the reading experience will differ from the movie

Oh R. F. Kuang you genius... The way I already know this will be 5 stars for me

Mission 2- The Quickest Undercover Hero: 4/5

Literally a biased af rating cause it has my fav characters HAHAHHA trapped in a confined space trope HELLO??? Akiyama when I catch you on AO3 I swear... Also I'm pretty sure she included Hawks just cause the entire fandom sucks his dick HAHAHHA (I'm one of them)

Book XI: Wounds

Revisiting this after a year and let me just say the audiobook is the way to go. Also I thought this book was the one where <spoiler>Patroclus would don Achilles' armor and pretend to be him and then die and I was so ready to cry, but alas, we still have a way to go.</spoiler>

Man... Fantasy really does have a high barrier for entry sometimes, but I'm excited to revisit this series now that the next book will be out next year! Hopefully on the reread I'm able to absorb more :)

Mission 1: 3/5

A really cute way to start this spin-off but nothing revolutionary. Mostly I was just excited to see Bakugou

I fear these updates don't provide me with enough characters to accurately convey how much this book pains me

"They long for the scientific seal of approval, but are unwilling to put up with the rigorous standards of evidence that impart credibility to that seal. What a relief it would be: doubt reliably abolished! Then, the irksome burden of looking after ourselves would be lifted." (p. 58)

Why do I know this book will destroy me

"If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflating our conceits?" (p. 12)

<spoiler>Gosh, this arc is just so painful. Seeing how much anguish and danger Eri is in but not being able to do anything. Her abuse is so thorough that even one gesture from Chisaki has her running back to him even though all he's ever done is hurt her. Not to mention Midoriya finding out that All Might is destined to die horribly. I can't even imagine knowing that about someone that you love so much</spoiler>

Book III: Gifts of the Goddess

Turns out there's a summary and notes at the back of this book was... a revelation to say the least. Also, HELLO!! There was some CHEATING in this book smh

Book II: The Multitude

List of ships does NOT hit no matter what version you read. I'm also pleasantly surprised with how much more I'm picking up in this version. E.g. realising that the whole narrative begins by breaking the fourth wall as Homer requests assistance from the Muses to tell the story of Achilles. Also I just finished reading the intro and it made tear up seeing how much Wilson loves this story

Book I: The Quarrel

Nahh, I'm so gone. I forgot how much of a whiny ass bitch Achilles was. Also the fact that dog-face was one of the most common insults SENT me. I'm gonna be using it from now on.

Jasmine suggesting to knock Nerida out so they could be rid of her and then being put out when Lief and Barda didn't agree was so funny

Kolya epitomising the "I'm fourteen and this is deep" meme was not something I anticipated to chance upon in this novel

I fear this book will ruin me, your honour

Ok I am COMMITTED to finishing this book before the end of the year. There's a dog rn, not sure where he came from, but the vibes are feeling kinda sad :(
