Jude is taken to Madoc’s encampment She is able to fool everyone for the most part She meets Suren w her bridle & her parents who are the rulers of the Court of Teeth Grimsen is also there&he is forging weapons for Madoc’s army There is a guarded cave Jude goes to speak to Grimsen
I realized since Jude was stolen Taryn&Vivi must think Jude was executed for breaking her exile

Jude goes to Locke’s estate&realizes this may be harder than she thought&there is probably a lot she doesn’t know about Taryn’s life there She wonders for a min if she could have pardoned herself from exile She goes to the inquest&is able to lie thru the glamor but Cardan knows it is Jude&gets her alone He asks if she got his letters 0_0 Madoc’s soldiers stage a coup to take over the castle&steals Taryn/Jude

Taryn explains that she killed Locke&is pregnant She wants Jude to pretend to be her @ the trial they are holding for her Jude points out that she is asking her to do the same thing she did that caused Jude’s exile & Jude is seeing parallels to their mom’s/Madoc’s story Vivi warns Jude against going but Jude decides to go to Elfhame & do it She wants to see Cardan if she fails she will be executed

Heather is still upset w Vivi Jude takes on jobs to help faeries living among mortals Grima Mog the renowned redcap general is eating fae Jude beats her in a duel (so cool) Grima tells her Madoc is gathering an army of traitors to usurp Cardan Jude wants to not care abt him but she does&is upset abt not being there Jude goes home&Heather is outside She helps Jude in Vivi is excited to see her&Taryn is also there

Cardan was fated to be the destruction of the crown&ruination of the throne bc of that Eldred wanted nothing to do w him His mother didn’t pay him attention either He was tricked by Dain He made it look likeCardan killed an important advisor Bc of this Eldred put LadyAsha in the TowerofForgetting&Cardan’s reputation worsened from there
Jude is exiled in the mortal trying to ready Oak who doesn’t want to be king

They spend the night together b4 Finn leaves In the next few months Ava turns her life around opening up&getting a new job Max gets his treatment&she doesn’t spiral She goes to Josie’s exhibit&Finn is there He gets a job at the museum & they live happily ever after The end

After the build up of their relationship I started to stop caring so much but I’m proud of myself for both starting and finishing this book

Ava looks over his interview stuff They meet at a public pool Ava decides to try to date but pretends to be someone else for a guy to like her Finn expresses she doesn’t have to Her guy cancels on her so Finn & her go to a pottery class sparks fly they finally make out in the storage closet At the housewarming party they go even further
They describe the feeling of each other as pieces perfectly fitting together AH

Ava takesFinn to a boat bar they get drunk&the sparks a flying They open up to one another a bit more He steals a pint glass for her They almost kiss on her doorstep but he stops b4 they do They’re both glad bc it would have ruined their friendship altho they both have feelings for the other Finn’s friendJulien can see that he likesAva Finn applies for a job in SanFran by his dad is Ava teaches him latte art lol

Ava & Finn cross off another bucket list item She learns that Finn seems to have a weird relationship w his dad He keeps justifying his dads actions meanwhile he left him&his mom when he was young Ava’s twin brother Max comes to town&Finn meets him too I think they are both starting to develop attraction for each other Finn asks abt a Graphic Design internship for Ava

Ava is a closed off barista&her roomateJosie tells her she needs to make new friends bcJosie is leaving for work trip A man namedFinn who is super charming & talkative comes into the coffee shop Finn moves around a lot for work&is only inLondon for the summer&he has a bucket list Ava doesn’t think much of him until one day Josie asks abt her new friend & Ava tells her it’s Finn They agree to help each other out

Jude is in the mortal world upset that she got played Vivi told Heather that she glamoured her&she moved out Jude is teaching oak swordplay&they are trying to keep things normal Vivi says that Jude can join Madoc to get revenge against Cardan Jude is thinking about Grimsen still being out there & possibly forging her a crown

THAT WAS SO BAD Cardan exiled her&she embarrassed herself saying that he can’t do that bc she’s the Queen of Faerie which no one knows yet Cardan was acting all evil and she was panicking so OFC SHE WOULDN’T REALIZE THAT SHE CAN PARDON HERSELF SMHH It’s crazy how much Cardan came into his power with his scheming, acting & powers Like good for him but that pmo for Jude Things were just getting stable btw them

Cardan wants to be freed from Jude’s control&knows she doesn’t have a solution to keep her pwr so his solution is to ask her to marry him She agrees&they exchange vows She’s Queen of Faerie The next day Orlaugh wants to talk bc Balekin’s ded Cardan shows her he is formidable by using his pwrs from the land to raise a new island from the sea In front of every1 he “exiles” Jude for murdering Balekin

Jude tricks Balekin in order to get the antidote They duel he tries to surrender but she murders him When she gets back to her room Cardan takes the antidote & reveals that Taryn impersonated Jude to get him to release Madoc from his vows & take half the army 0_0

Jude finds a dress for the masquerade fromMotherMarrow She confrontsLocke on almost killing herBalekin gives her poison to use onCardan Cardan comes in drunkLordRoiben tries to speak to him but no useJude realizesCardan was actually poisoned Balekin tries to frame her but she is able to resist the glamour She takesCardan to her room The Bomb helps&has a note sayingBalekin wantsJude to trade the crown for the antidote

It was so unexpected thatCardan&Jude had sex earlier in the room behind the throne I didn’t remember that
An unexpectedly sweet moment was whenJude climbed the palace, snuck intoCardan’s room&he pulled her onto him even tho she had her hand over his mouth&said she was sent to kill him
It’s weird they hated each other for sm of the last book so for them to be so touchy now is sometimes hard to process lol

Jude is prisoner undersea Orlaugh Nicasia&Balekin try to glamour her to get info&loyalty but she has to feign that it works bc of Dain’s geas The 3 recruited Grimsen to create a new crown for them that they can use once they kill Cardan ig they will crown Balekin&overtake land&sea Jude is weakened but she plays the part so well that they trust her to work for them&kill Cardan Cardan made a bargain to get Jude back

Jude rides toMadoc’s stronghold&is attacked by knights She dropsTaryn’s earrings She mends her wound&goes to the wedding They set traps abtOak for theUndersea to fall for Madoc overhearsJude commandingCardan&he makes her a true enemy TheGhost interrupts&tellsJude she needs to go to theTower Balekin is gone&the guards are killed She frees LadyAsha Jude turns&theGhost is standing w the selkies He betrayed her

Nicasia told Cardan Orlaugh plans to strike @ Taryn’s wedding Jude makes plans to protect Oak&goes to Madoc to work w him to plan against Orlaugh Balekin has an audience with Cardan he tells him he needs to free him&let him basically rule the kingdom Yeah no one’s buying that Jude made sure to get a note to LadyAsha staging Oak hoping she will tell Balekin & they can catch Orlaugh

Jude goes to Locke&threatens him to play nice w her Cardan&Taryn She had a good line Her&theRoach go to mortal world to return workers&pick up Oak Vivi&Heather who doesn’t know abt Faerie yet&is shocked when she finds it all out Jude sees Cardan seducing Nicasia & she gets jelly Jude goes to Grimsen & gets Taryn a wedding gift that makes her xtra beautiful hoping they will help in making Locke not stray from her

Oak is arriving for Taryn’s wedding Madoc wants to use him as bait for Orlaugh but Jude wants to avoid things coming to that by getting info thru Balekin Speakin of Cardan summons her to the throne&into the private room behind it He tells her he recieves a message from Balekin meaning Jude’s manipulation of Lady Asha worked Jude tells Cardan to charm Nicasia to spill more secrets but he seduces her instead OOP

Queen Orlaugh sends a message threatening Cardan to marry Nicasia Cardan calls a mtg w living council They listen toJude since she warned them at the last mtg&now it’s obvious Orlaugh wants to overtake the land Cardan ordersJude around in front of them She warns him not to Jude calls LadyAsha from theTower ofForgetting She pretends to want to know abt her mom but plants a seed to get info abt Balekin

Taryn wants Jude somehow strip Locke as the Master of Revels Jude is having trouble keeping up w her plans meanwhile Cardan fits in as king&is getting comfy which worries her At the Hunters Moon revel Duncamara reminds Jude she still has a favor to fulfill Locke makesCardan crownJude asQueen ofMirth She flips the embarrassment to get a lick back@Cardan Jude sees Undersea selkies w blades heading towards the revel
