in progress thoughts:
- i'm finding it a bit strange to balance ordinary mortal cause-and-effect next to gods and asuras as characters
- one of the aspects of the ramayana (animated film) that made a strong impression on me was the simple equivalence of rama's moral goodness with his heroism. interesting that from kaikeyi's perspective, that same moral goodness functions as an agent of religious conservatism
