Really was enjoying the first 100 pages but am starting to wane. It just feels like more characters keep getting introduced and I’m losing the binding thread.

This is itching that TWD scratch in my brain. I loved that show in middle school. Something about the drama of rebuilding society after an apocalypse… where people who were accountants pre-fall are suddenly horrifying murderers. Love.

It’s October!! I need to read (at least) one Stephen King book. Looking at my shelf, I was between this and a reread of The Shining. I just finished a 900 pager and am now starting this 1,100 pager. My reading challenge may suffer.

Performative reading

Picked this up at a garage sale. So far it's a cozy read that reminds me of Station Eleven, Little Women, and Princess Bride combined – but all set in modern day during COVID. There's really not a lot of tension, but I still feel propelled forward by the peaceful vibe. I think I'll end up recommending this to my mom when I'm done but we'll see.

Started this over breakfast before work and am currently stewing at my desk because I'll have to wait until tonight or tomorrow morning to read more. Just got a taste.

I have so rarely read a book AFTER watching the movie. I must say, so far the movie was really true to the book. I would've loved to interpret these characters without preconceived performances. My bad!

Emily Henry is about to get served by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Lawsuit impending.

This book is very Evelyn Hugo esque lol.

One thing about Emily Henry: she will find a new situation for a writer to fall in love in. Respect.

I won't become a vegetarian. I still very much align with the 2005 Michael Pollan meat ethics. I just want to make sure I can shame myself properly and have grim mental images every time I buy non co-op eggs. Even those eggs aren't safe. Nothing is safe. Making myself schizo as hell.

I want to relive the high of the botany of desire. I also want to feel an unrelenting guilt every time I see a decoration tree planted by itself alongside a sidewalk.

Don't want to get over excited but I just started over breakfast this morning and I already LOVE THE VOICE. I also love anything Appalachia for some reason. I think I'll like this more than Poisonwood Bible, but I fear I'm setting this book up for failure by being too excited.

Sorry to update again so soon but… now that the groundwork and basic world building has been laid and I know all the names…. This is already suuuper engaging. Exactly the kind of read I needed to cleanse the palate. It’s hard for me to get into fantasy so I’m glad.

I was looking for a fun, light read to breeze through. You all gave this high marks. So far it is not light. There's so many characters and new words, I'm scared.

Slurpy as hell

You all thought my Stephen King reading was a phase… you were wrong. I’ve returned with his magnum opus. Let’s see if it can beat the shining.

Grabbed this from the staff recommendation section of the library without doing much more than looking at the cover and reading the inside sleeve. Took me about 10 pages to realize it was sequel (why didn’t the sleeve mention this? :0 ). But it’s not so sequel-y that I can’t understand what’s happening. We push forward! We persevere!

Kinda eating it up so far. I can't explain to you how the author is making me care about video game development – somehow it's just happening.

Lord get me on an eight hour plane ride so I can just sit down and read this in one sitting. Emily Henry books should be read in three sittings MAX. I just don't have such wide windows of time.
