I am this close to dnf’ing this book. I am annoyed

61% of the way through and have been entertained enough so far. However, I’m becoming more and more aware that this protagonist has basically zero character outside of her writer persona. What does she do everyday (outside of focus on Twitter)? We know almost nothing about her. Years have passed since the start of this story and again, nothing has happened to her outside of writer stuff. It’s becoming flat

At 68% moved it to 1.5x speed. I hate this book. I can’t stand King’s early stuff I reckon. So slangy and colloquial, which I’d think is something I love but turns out I hate. I know what happens and I’m dying for the end now

I’ve shelved this book twice to come back to because it is torturing to read. I’m at 57% and I’m dyinggggggggg. What is wrong with me and why don’t I see how this book is so popular? I might dnf because the struggle is so strong. At the very least perhaps we can all agree that it should’ve been HALF the length.

Thoroughly enjoying. It reminds me of the 10,000 Doors of January, a touch of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, with a little The Starless Sea sprinkled in. So far I like it better than all of those books but we’ll see where it goes. These stories often tend to meander and then just… stop, which often annoys me, but this far, I’m into it.
