Again some more adult harsh themes more suitable for an “adult” novel. The sexual themes and substance abuse seem too explicit for me for a “YA” novel and I have the same opinion about “Tithe”. The conversations are nothing special and the writing is pretty average but I do think the story has potential.

SJM stole a lot. Desperately trying not to be YA. So many character holes (why did Corny just accept shes a GREEN FAIRY WITH BLACK EYES AND WINGS??), why would the ✨fairest of them ALL✨ be even remotely interested in an ordinary girl and instantly trust her after she literally made him betray his queen and become a target? The writing is average at best.

I don’t like the writing for now but I’ll keep an open mind since I *just* started it. It reads very YA and the conversations are a bit weird. I also didn’t expect Zetian to be so girly smitten so I’ll see where that goes.

The writing is amazing. AMAZING. I went completely blind into this book expecting absolutely nothing because it isn’t something I would usually pick up, but this book just keeps surprising me with the story and the writing. It is soo intriguing and it’s so hard to stop.
