i’m a simple woman i see family drama set in italian village with creepy vibes and i gotta pick it up

eeeeeee i’m not sure how i feel. super cool idea but it’s written SO MODERNLY that i feel like i really have to suspend my disbelief. the code-switching narrative here works as a metaphor in modern times but i can’t fully get behind the historical and sociolinguistic inaccuracy of it. also so much telling and not showing.

two talented bastids: 2/5 stars
snoozefest. this is one of the darker stories? it takes 61 pages to say that a dude and his friend saved a aliens life so the alien’s friend made them talented and famous. who cares?

short and snappy, good surprise creep factor on the end here

what i’m liking:

the continuous question of why the people of panem submit to the capitol
being back in the world of the hunger games

what i’m not liking:
way too many songs
brutal overuse of edgar allan poe poem
so many….dramatic….ellipses…….
haymitch being the most perfect good boy hero ever

kind of cringe and bad but i’m gonna keep at it

dare i say this is……bad, so far. the actual plot is interesting but the way it’s told is not at all. the POV character is so deeply annoying and stupid that he’s frustrating to follow. the modern irish writing style is annoying, repetitive and takes you out of the story. might dnf.
