Volume 9 Finished. This one was pretty good, if broad in scope.

Volume 8 is finished. Not really sure how I liked this one. I wish we spent more time on the nuts and bolts of the scandal itself. I get that’s not really the point, but it would have activated my almonds a bit harder. The politicking in this volume was only sporadically interesting.

The start was very strong with the election returns but I groaned a bit every time mionnet came around.

Very interesting volume. You can see how the French socialist movement, and others will be broken by the looming great war. Already, Jerphanion has begun to suspect that the international socialist movement cannot stop a European war and that martial may even be a sign of health in a society, though he tries to banish the thought. I'm really excited to see how the War changes his politics.
