Favourite novel of 2025, a portrait of loneliness written in that biblical faulkneresque twang, a strange blend of melancholy and saccharine male companionship make this one of McCarthy’s best.. you can smell Knoxville, Tennessee and the boatmen and the beggars holding out their cup of alms… his very best work imo
