A re read from my youth. Still an enjoyable read. Modern perspective may criticize the depiction of the Canadian native people, but beneath the stereotypes there is an awareness that the native culture has a wisdom that the white settlers don’t. For a book first published in 1947, that awareness was forwarded thinking.
