On a quest actually to read all the books I own…

This book is breaking my heart:

“In total, four hundred thousand books in Central Library were destroyed in the fire. An additional seven hundred thousand were badly damaged by either smoke or water or, in many cases, both.”

It’s like all of my worst nightmares rolled into one.

The story has me hooked, but the writing is killing me. Turns out omitting quotation marks actually doesn’t make the dialogue flow—it’s just downright confusing.

Also, sentences like “The Red River was the boundary between Indian Territory and that which was not Indian Territory”. No duh?!?
