Der Schreibstiel unterscheidet sich deutlich von dem von Cornelia Funke, es hat nicht mehr die gleiche Nostalgie und Leichtigkeit. Auch fühlen sich die Charaktere von Sprotte aber besonders Fred nicht mehr authentisch an. Man merkt deutlich, dass nicht Cornelia Funke das Buch geschrieben hat sondern jemand komplett anderes.

Olga Grjasnowa schreibt so komplexe und im ersten Moment vielleicht unverständlich Charaktere dass es einfach nur spanned und so unendlich lehrreich ist Mascha kennenzulernen. Sie hat viele Probleme und versucht sich selbst in all denen zu finden, wobei sie sich selbst jedoch immer wieder widerspricht. Dass macht Mascha jedoch so spannend und das Buch so fesselnd.

I finished part one of the book and I just keep getting more and more disturbed and my hatred for Wilson keeps growing. Hate him. And honestly Orwell just doesn't understand woman or knows how to write them.

Making progress is sooooo slow because the book is just that bad and boring. It's honestly astonishing that I haven't been catapulted into a massive reading slump by now

Terrible literally terrible so far. It's sexist and kinda racist and the protagonist is fantasizing about raping and killing this way way younger woman just because he knows he can't ever have her. Ew
