it’s really hard to get through the middle part of the book seeing the main character want the attention of a man who is such an ick

yall i am BINGEING this book right now its so so good. I’m also shocked at how many different sports/academia scenarios are in this book that the author has to research for like a swimming competition, debate teams and the current chapter i’m on about horseback riding???

bell hooks may be my favorite author this year, her books are so insightful

the best way I can describe my experience with this books content so far is the despair I feel from knowing that women and men themselves have to be willing to change for everyone in our society to feel liberated. Like what bell hooks often mentions is that we cannot love men enough for things to get better—all we can do is stand by and be there for them when they want to grow.

there’s like no way Jude, JB, Malcolm and Willem aren’t based on real life people. Their lives and stories feel too real.
