Alas, good friends, this book is starting to win me over. The first half was annoying af, and the movie only covered the first half so I have yet to really know the ending. But I’m seeing now that the first half that is full of psychologically damaging behavior and dramatic monologues is just a set up of the second half, which can’t be appreciated without the first. And so far I enjoy the second half. Stay tuned!

I read 60% of this book and it angered me very much.. so much monologuing, it’s Shakespearean but 19th century English instead and every character except for Ellen is a wiener face. Anyhoo I saw the movie and it ended at like the halfway point of the book so will probably finish the remaining 40% at some point since I still don’t know how it ends
