I also rlly loved the dialogue between the characters it shaped their personalities sm

Icel when I first started reading it I was just reading it for the sake of getting a book I would normally NOT read get read ykwim, but this book moved me in so many ways
Carton was such a complex and troubled character and the sacrifices he made THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BOOK (forget the last one he made) were so noble and made me respect him SM

Reading this book st the dame time im reading blood over bright haven and a far better thing makes it so sub par
The thing is the writing is good the characters are good and the world is whimsical
its js i might not exactly be the target audience
Under normal corcimstances where i would be reading this alone and not w a friend, I would have prob DNFd it long agi
Or perhaps 2026 is the year of no DNFing

the story is js fun and whimsical so far and Evangeline is wholesome

I already liked Jacks’ character in the Caraval series (even though ik he was supposed to be an opp) so it’s hard to hate him rn knowing hes still a character thats an opp

Had low expectations starting this anyway so lets see where this goes

like the way she writes abt the apartheid and corrupted regime is insanely correspondent to what were seeing in thr world today AND IN THR PAST OFC

I mean, naturally, im sure thats what she took the inspiration from but its js tlly well written in my opinion

So far the book seems appropriately hyped

Was gna give this a three stars like caraval UNTIL THE VERY LAST PAGE i didn’t expect that plot twist ngl

tella is great, i rlly respect the hustle i respect the bravery ans I respect her smartness HOWEVER I do admit she is pretty cringe sometimes (and Dante is always smelly)
Im still stuck onthe ending of Caraval. i want more scarlet I WANT TO BETTER UNERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED WITH JULIAN AND SCARLET AT THE END OF CARAVAL 😭 one chapter wasnt enough to clear the confusion

The new DNF feature is PERFECT for me
