i’m reading a random online pdf from my phone so i’m going to need to update continually to remember where i left off lol

god i love shirley jackson so much… reading her books gives me the same feeling as watching one of those weird surrealist liminal space movies which manage to be really unsettling without violence / jumpscares / direct disclosure of anything demonic or paranormal. it’s entirely through the writing style that she establishes that eeriness, it’s such a talent

this book is really helping me reflect on my taste in men

lowkey might give up on the reading challenge and just read as much as i can cause i don’t think there’s any way it’s happening anymore 😭

this is unequivocally the worst reading slump i’ve faced in probably over a year or two

ngl the introductory chapter being a 50-page short story was kind of annoying but now that i’ve actually reached the meat of the novel i am quite pleased with how it’s going. + beautiful writing (always sells a book for me lol)

any male who enjoys this guy’s writing needs to remain outside a 10km radius from me at all times

three exams this week but my gr challenge is stressing me out far more lol !!

first time this whole year i’ve been behind schedule on my gr challenge… i hate uni. i also hate the writing style of this book. very cringe imo

god some of the passages in this book are actually so vile i have to pause and take a breath

this is actually the worst reading drought i’ve had all year. quite depressing
