Another reread, in preparation for the newest. I’m gonna do a full Maas-verse reread this time. This has become a cozy favorite.

Green Tea: 3 stars for the writing but 5 for the topic. Fantastic discussion of mental health before they really even knew what that was.

The haunted baronet: 5 stars. Initially a 4, but the more I dived into what felt lacking or off-putting, the more I realized how intentional it was. Absolutely brilliant story.

I will not be ok if this book is not HEA. Vale, how I love you.

Nothing less than a mass extinction will suffice. I’m actually sobbing.

Madam Crowl’s Ghost: ohh this one was fun. Took a minute to get the dialect but once I sorted that out, such spooky.

Team Vale!

OMG!!!

Love it already. Such drama. Pretty heavy handed on the metaphors but I fortunately love this style of over the top.

Schalken the Painter: 4 stars. A delightful maybe vampire story.

Squire Toby’s Will: 4 stars. A delightful start to this anthology. An excellent story about guilt.

Cue a debate on whether Matt Dinniman is actually as progressive as his “satire” indicates, or if he’s maybe still got some patriarchal demons. (Still, the intent here is solid, but the patriarchy hits deeper than most realize).
