life is difficult

wasn’t expecting this book to dive so heavy into the effects of patriarchy on Mary. whenever I read Cain, also by Jose Saramago, I looked at the Reddit page and there was a comic critiquing Saramago for his misogynistic description of his female characters. I think that that person just did not understand the ways in which he was making fun of the patriarchy, not upholding it? idk, maybe agree to disagree

i think this is the most interestingly formatted book i have ever picked up

john green mentioned this author at least twice if not more in the anthropocene reviewed. i have an Anthropocene reviewed shaped hole in my heart since finishing the book, so far i think Textbook Amy Krouse Rosenthal is filling that hole quite well

forcing myself to go through this book slowly. i read about two chapters at a time until my brain rewires to a state of hopefulness and then i put it down until i reach a point where i need it again. idk what im going to do with myself when i finish this book

i wish i had a physical copy of this book instead of the audiobook. im currently on chapter 13 and i love it so much but some of the earlier chapters i didn’t feel as strongly connected towards. i wish i could sticky note the chapters i like so i could go back and reference them. will have to own this book sometime in the future

okay i’m ngl it took me 2 days to get through the 8 page prologue but now we’re rocking and rolling

that is all this book is about and i love every word of it.

just when i thought i couldn’t love her more she brings in her love for the book of 1st corinthians. I think this will be a book that I reread for the rest of my life

this book is awesome bc it’s all the bible stories i thought were odd (like abraham sacrificing isaac the above quote is referring to)but actually calling them out for how bizarre they are instead of acting like its normal like they did in sunday school
