I like it... it's very different from Pulley's other stuff but still has her signature charm. I mean the premise isn't as politically offputting as...any of her other books honestly (even the ones I loved) so I'm feeling good

I'm gonna be so sad if this isn't good but I already don't really like the prologue 😭 if the first person narration makes this anything like The Bedlam Stacks gosh I hope I'll love it but the narrative style (after Greek epics) isn't really doing it for me so far

It turns out I do not, in fact, enjoy reading an extended discussion on how shitting and talking about shit with your partner is a deeply intimate thing.

My library loan has expired and I don't know when I'll borrow this book again, or if I even want to. I don't feel very drawn into it as the plot feels extremely contrived. I don't like how obvious the manipulation is as I would rather figure it out myself as a reader. There are also some writing things that irk me, including the overuse of single-line paragraphs and dialogue tags that aren't "says."

so if, according to Lancelot, Kay "always seems to choose the wrong side," but Kay "killed Nazis" then does that mean Lancelot was on the side of the Nazis in WWII or what? also how is Kay on the wrong side right now. the only thing Lancelot knows about Kay now is that he was fighting the dragon...which is the same thing Lancelot wants to do. they're literally on the same side.
