This book is way too dense and repetitive. Some of the characters are difficult to distinguish so I have no idea who’s speaking some of the time. The plot is carrying this book completely. And it’s been awhile since anything has happened.

There are two kinds of people in the world: the people you can fool into liking you, and the ones clever enough not to fall for it.

Is this another manic pixie MC ??? 🤮 Also in the beginning when they’re getting ready for the NYE party the book says they’ve known each other ten days. But then it flashes back to… NYE the day they met because she stayed with Cordelia. That is confusing. Am I reading something wrong?

Oh yay. Another poorly written pick me girl as the protagonist. And the egregious amount of info dumping is pretty astonishing. The plot better be amazing or I’m out. I’m suspecting the high stars on GR are from all the horny middle aged women.

Popsicle sticks?? Aren’t those called tongue depressors? 😂

Skip The Interview unless you want Atwood to ram her political ideals and beliefs down your throat. The others so far have been great.

It's strange, the patchwork stories we tell someone when we want them to catch up, a shortcut to knowing us, as if such a thing were possible.

What is home to a monster? To anyone? There exists for each of us a geographical fulcrum, a place so saturated with memory that within its precinct the past is always present.

A hotel maid that is afraid of germs on a pen? That is possibly one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read.

Don’t think you belong only to your own time! To your moment of survival. What you do or don’t do is left behind.

…wondering if prayer and laughter gurgled up, sometime, from the same spring.

Is it not the case that many a life journey starts out in the opposite direction to its destiny?

If I have to read that someone’s mouth lifts in a grin or curves in a smirk one more time, I think I might throw myself off the gauntlet. This is not a fantasy book. It’s a romance book and not a very good one.

Oof. How did this book get such high ratings. Im not one to leave a book unfinished but this is painful. We get it. She’s weak. Also why in the hell do they kill half of their military in TRAINING?? What kind of strategy is that??? Characters are more like caricatures… one dimensional. The dialogue is cringe. The world building is non existent. WHY WOULD YOU BURN EVERYTHING AFTER SOMEONE DIES?? Just yuck.

I’m almost finished and there are so many lines that struck me. But only now I’m bothering to make note of one. “Death leaves cans of shaving cream half-used”.

I think I’d prefer a fiction book by this author. She is unlikable and shallow. This memoir feels highly exaggerated. Also what’s with the word banal being used already half a dozen times?

Holy run-on sentences. Get to the freaking point already. Is Pete and Steve in a pissing contest of who can get a higher word count?? I’m not having fun at all. Why did I choose THIS book to read out loud to my husband??

Amazing premise. I am thinking over the last ten years of my life and wondering what it would feel like to lose all memory of them. Why does this book make me want to cry? 😭

Good grief. What kind of self-indulgent bullshit am I reading. I love SK and PS so I have faith this will get better.

I love and adore Tom’s writing style. But this one was boring as hell. And the relish in bashing got pretty redundant towards the end.

I can’t say for sure, since I’m a 50 year old woman, but this book reads like someone cosplaying a teenage boy.

If I have to hear about Celia’s “hair fanned on the pillow” one more time I’m going to puke.

I REALLY dislike the character, Monique. She seems like an idiot and the first time she meets with Evelyn does NOT make me believe she would be chosen to write this biography.

I have to keep reminding myself that this is obviously written for teenagers. It’s sweet but also very cringey. I like it enough to keep reading. But I wish I’d known before I started the target audience. I need to vet my books better.

Oh cool. A book about rich, entitled, angry teenagers.

I’m entertained. But wtf with describing Greg and his effects on women… Even lesbians want him? Ridiculously stupid and almost made me quit reading.

I’m glad I’m almost finished with this book.

Ugh I hate that I finish every book I start.
