So far this book is sickeningly well written. Also fairly sickening in subject matter, but then it is about a war.

I love the writing in this book so much

Every scene is suffused with such exquisite dread—and yet most of the scenes are firmly grounded in the everyday, in understandable psychology. It’s only sometimes that the dread tears through and becomes real.
