An inspiring read so far. I especially liked chapter 10, titled “O Little Town of Bethlehem.” The author explains the significance, or rather the insignificance, of this little town and used this to show how God works and the pattern of his ways and how we can achieve lasting peace. Christmas carols are quoted in each chapter of this book with “O Little Town of Bethlehem” closing out this one.

I just finished the first chapter of The Orchid Thief. It is a well written and absorbing story so far.

The author briefly introduces many characters in the beginning pages. Then, after many plot developments and several chapters later refers to these characters again. I find I need to look back to jog my memory to figure out who is who. The plot pace is picking up now that hopefully all characters have been introduced. I am enjoying the book mostly for entertainment and easy reading.

After reading the first two chapters, I paged ahead to see the chapter titles, one for each husband, apparently. I read the first two, titled “Poor Ernie Diaz” and the second, “Goddamn Don Adler.” Suffice it to say, those two were not interesting enough for me to read the third, “Gullible Mick Riva.”
