This book is fascinating so far. I never really pondered the more complex situations of animal movement on surfaces such as water, but looking at water gliders more in depth has made me think much more about the ratio between the insects body weight and the surface tension of the water. I am greatly excited to look more in depth at different animals and the way in which they move.

The book is pretty slow going at this point, but I'm hoping that we start to see a bit more nuance to everything here within thew coming chapters. I have to say though that music is suprisngly helpful for making me focus and actually adds a little bit more life to the reading than usual which is a nice feeling.

I just started this book and nothing has really captured me so far. Murder on the orient express is one of the most well known murder mysteries there is, so perhaps I simply need to get further into the book to enjoy it. I think that I thought this book would be similar to that old show "Columbo", but I could be wrong. Then again I haven't gotten to far into the book so we'll see what happens.

At the beginning of each chapter in this book, there's a pause that takes place, in which someone monologues about something. From what I can gather it seems to be the sheriff of the book. The pauses are interesting in that they act as moments of reflection for the reader, with the monologues not taking about any of the events that have taken place in the book, but instead just life events from the sheriff.

In this session, the book mostly focused on Anton and Moss. The way that Anton is written is somewhat horrifying. Anton doesn't seem to do his job for any reason related to wealth, more so it seems that Anton only does his job out of a sense of being a savior of some sort. What I mean by that is that when Anton is about to remove someone from the world, he tries to get them to see the truth, in a twisted sort of way.

In this session, Moss was able to get patched up in a hospital somewhere in Mexico, only to be approached by a man named Carson Wells. Wells offered Moss an out, by saying that if Moss just gave Wells the money back, he could get Anton off of Moss's back, and would even allow Moss to keep some of the money. I'm close to being half way done with the book, so I'm interested to see what happens to Moss next.

I've noticed some interesting mannerisms when reading this book. I've noticed that the writer never puts punctuation around the charecters dialougue. It's an interesting choice that I feel has the affect of sometimes confuses the audience about who is speaking in a given scene, but also adds to the general feel of disorder that is present in this book, as the situation that Moss is in countinues to escalate.

I've already read a good section of this book so far, and I can tell that for a large majority of this book that I will need to expunge certainly details to remain school friendly. In the story so far, the book has been cut into three stories featuring the sheriff, Moss, and Chigurh. There is certainly an added sense of dread when reading this book, as it set in new mexico, which adds to the distrubingness of it all.

The reaping ceremony continues, and Corneluis has been assigned a district twelve student for the games. It was interesting to see the reaping ceremony, but even more so to learn more about war life in the capital. Every decesion was a a game, a dance, between looking prim and proper, or surviving at cost of your reputation. Everything had meaning, and had to be planned out if you wish to survive with some dignity.

The book opens upon president snow at eighteen years old upon reaping day. The apartment of the capitol that he lives in slowly crumbling upon itself as time goes on due to the damage caused by the war. It's interesting to see such a high level authority figure like Snow reduced to living in a crumbling apertment building as opposed to before.

It has been quiet some time since I updated goodreads so I'll give a brief overview of what has happened. Paul's leave has finally expired, meaning that he will now have to return to the front. Nothing has changed in the time that he has left, but it was interesting to see how Paul was, in a sense, more alive on the front with his friends then he was at home with his family.

After the french had been repelled from their trenches, the germans take their trench and gain more land on the front. Paul is put on sentry for the night and is left alone with his thoughts. He reflects on his life before the war, how peaceful it was to exist at home without being on the front, which is now replaced by a melhencoly exist on the front.

Kat and his commrades mainly talked about what they would all do when they returned home from war. None of them truly knew what they were going to do beside short term goals like getting drunk, as many of them had not had jobs before the war. That along side the fact that kat and his commrades joy of life had been stomped out by the war leaves the men in a depressed mood.

Franz has died from the leg amputation earlier on in the story, meaning that Muller was able to secure his shoes for later on in the war. So far everyone is starving due to low rations, but thankfully Kat was able to find rations for the rest of his unit.
