On page 227 and it hasn't improved at all... I am dangerously close to DNFing. 😒

The Shadows Between Us is a disappointing read, falling flat on every level. The predictable, formulaic plot is riddled with clichés, and the romance lacks chemistry, tension, or depth, failing the enemies-to-lovers trope entirely. Alessandra is a shallow, self-obsessed protagonist with no real growth, making her tedious to follow. Focused solely on vanity and ambition, the story feels one-dimensional and uninspired.

Struggling to get into this book. I'm interested enough to keep reading, especially with all the great reviews but I'm not a big fan of murder mystery. Atm not finding any of the characters particularly fascinating (with the exception of Ruhn, who may end up being a very intriguing character). I have an idea of where the book is going. I do expect, like with SJM other series, that it will get real good.

Finding this book hard to get through. It's not that it's boring or anything, it's just a slower start than the others for me. I guess with how good the other books are, they have risen my expectation. I'm waiting for something exciting or particularly interesting to happen still. It's so-so at the moment but I'll persist as I am sure it will get better. The series has learnt that much faith in it so far.

It's depressing. I am having a hard to keeping at it and yet I am interested to know where this leads. Surely it gets better than this monotonous, depressive slump Jude is in. When will she be able to make a difference! And where is my favourite-character-to-be. Still waiting for him.

I expected alot from this book being as it was written by Josephine Angelini, but I was disappointed with how unloveable I found the characters. It had some interesting ideas but at no point in the book did I find myself wanting to read "just one more chapter" or having a hard time putting it down to sleep, as I did with her Star Crossed series. I only completed reading it hoping it would get better.

25 pages in and finding this book incredibly frustrating. There is too much explaining and not enough doing. The book uses a single technique to explain things, and the explanations are long and boring. So far, I find the characters hard to like, especially when by page two the protagonist was bagging out classic literature. Not much happening. It just lacks something. Maybe better suited for a 13 year old.

I like this book. Its not fantastic, but it is entertaining. There is an equal balance of mystery and information; just enough to intrigue but without giving away too much in one go. The characters are diverse and the main characters are likeable. The male protagonist add intrigue to the book through his mysterious character, and I enjoy having a female protagonist who is independent, curious and capable.

More than 100 pages in, I'm simultaneously bored and curious. The story is slow moving. There doesn't seem to be much of a developing danger. The characters aren't particularly loveable or interesting. The only really interesting thing is the possibility of an opposing group to the supernatural hunters (IPCA). I'm curious, but not enthralled as I should be, and considering moving on to a better read.

It's not a horrible book, but I have certainly read better. I find the topic of greek mythology interesting in the book but I am more than half way through and I am finding myself bored. It revolves around a poorly developed romance, it could certainly have a better vocabulary, and the characters could be more interesting. I feel like this book would be better suited to younger or less experienced readers.

SPOILERS

Okay, so, I read half the book and the story seems great, then half way through, out of nowhere SURPRISE, she is a vampire!
This would make sense if not for the fact that she seems to have known this very important detail all along and the book is in first person. So some how, while we were hearing all her inner thoughts and what not, she didn't happen to think or mention this at any point? Nonsensical.

I am reading this book for the first time and in 2 days i have read 293 pages. It is a fantastic series of books and I love the Vampire Academy world. Unfortunately, i sense the heart-breaking, Rose-screws-over-Adrian moment coming because, lets face it, who didn't see that coming! Selfish idiotic bitch. Anywho, I am dreading it, but I still love the series despite this.

Rose you selfish bitch. I used to like her character, but when a determination and witty character turns into an unethical "I'll do anything to get to your goal, even trample others and endanger everything I claim that I love", things are just getting ridiculous. At this point, I still like the book, but it is hard to still like Rose. Come on, move on!

At this point, I can't help but think that this book has been a bit slow comparative to the previous two books. Sure, it is interesting if you are into more of the talking and site viewing or adventure as opposed to more of the action and suspense. It has a lot of character building and relationship forming going on, and much less drama. Lots of story setting though, there is a lot going on. Maybe it is a slow build

Love the first story, sweet and fascinating, I like all the characters in it but the brother seriously annoys me in parts.
I like the second book. Likewise it is good and I love the main character's together, but I hate Mary-Lynnette's attitude towards him. It pisses me off. In the end I just didn't understand her. What an idiot.
Yet to read the third book in the volume.
