Finished chapter 18, I can sense the book is building to its conclusion. The characterization of Glanton suddenly was very well written, characterizing him as a great man and yet knows he can’t avoid his fate in life and he senses violent retribution coming to him. The Judge has had lots of monologues that are terrifying yet so intriguing and builds him more as a complex character. “War is God””War endures”

All I gotta say is the Judge is truly a symbol of depravity and his belief of things only being allowed to exist based on his consent is insanity and shows the sort of God-complex he has on himself in life. The comment on birds is intriguing as well and brings to question his philosophy of freedom of the weak in general.

Chapters 10 and 11 may have been the best so far. The stories told by the judge about the harness-maker and traveler were so meaningful and real in their message and the way the ex-priest spoke about the judge was very fascinating and telling on the true nature of the judge. Also the quote about only noticing you've heard the voice of God once it is absent is fascinating and an amazing quote. Excited for more.

Finished chapter 9, great chapter. The Judge is clearly set up to be a representation of evil, its obvious he mutilated the boy. The squatters in the building were so funny to me. Everything about them was ironic and I loved reading that part since they just were the most idiotic people and also were easily manipulated by The Judge (called fools). The ending of the chapter was interesting too and very symbolic.

Halfway through chapter 7, so far great book, the kid and Toadvine just joined the Glatton gang and I’m interested to see where this takes them. Glatton himself seems like an intriguing character and even more the judge seems interesting with his strange charisma. I wonder how the kid’s innate violent nature will transform now that he is in this gang and I am excited to continue on and learn more.

Just finished chapter 4, very good chapter and well it was mostly all the same where it just kept affirming that the army the kid joined was extremely unprepared and just did not know one bit what they were doing and it showed in their eventual demise in the end when they essentially get slaughtered and the prophecy of the Mennonite comes fully true. Great chapter interested to see more though.

This manga remains a masterclass in writing. It portrays its themes in a very gruesome way, however, that adds to the point and main theme that our imperfections and sinful nature if not dealt with can create calamity to ourselves and those around. I very much so enjoy this manga and the development of our protagonist and while it is insanely real, it is insanely good.

Kojiros backstory leading up to his present day introduction has been quite good, I need to get more involved in reading Vagabond again but I do say i very much like the story being presented and the foreshadowings to when Musashi and Kojiro finally meet. Vagabond remains very great.

Nearly half way through the volume and so far it is excellent. Seeing the inner beast within Kojiro slowly unleash is very cool and seeing him now be the age of 17 is cool. Jisai claims he will not train Kojiro, however, in a way he unintentionally did so and Kojiro thought it was training possibly and he has grown from it lots. Interested to see what happens with Kojiro and Ittosai.

The father son relationship with Kojiro continues to grow and it’s really nice seeing both characters taking this attachment toward each other as long as the sword, it’s as if they’re perfect matches for each other as father and son.

Very interesting to see how the battle between Sudo and Kojiro went, Kojiro showed flashes of excellence that shocked the old man but he still was able to overpower Kojiro, but in the end this event was what was needed to make Kanemaki return to his old roots and tear Sudo apart, and it was then not much a fight. He got wounded but it was a cool good fight that was beautifully drawn.

Shishido Baiken got that dog in him. Matahachi and that other dude do not. Good chapter.

Matahachi is still a coward, he's giving himself mountains to climb that he always runs away from so we shall see what that leads to. Though I think the symbolism of the crows was pretty cool in this chapter, crows represent death and we see them come in when this one character is begging to be put out of his misery. So that was a cool touch, overall good chapter.

Matahachi is such a fraud. He won't die but I Lowkey hope he does and his grandma is the most frustrating character of this chapter. Pretty decent chapter.

Second chapter of volume was very fire. His challenge to climb the mountain due to the literal nail in his foot, representative of his mind being a limiter and constraint to himself, was amazingly concluded after he realized the words of the Sekishusai, he realized he must be free (represented by the bird) of the burden of worrying about the future and embrace the present in its entirety, and through that he overcame

First chapter was pretty fire, love the symbolism on the summit and how it symbolizes his attempt to "see everything in its entirety" and to "be the strongest". It is pretty cool and I love his planting of his sword before each fight basically being his declaration of victory/asserting dominance before the fight even starts. Great chapter very good.
