Started this morning, and the first poem was an ideal beginning! Planning to read one or two each morning, until I run out/finish the book!

Day one: ‘…one day at a time’

‘Blooming’ a nice final chapter, lots of short thoughts and musings. ‘I fold the good days up and place them in my back pocket for safekeeping’.

‘Rising’ (love with softness and sharp edges, making a ‘checklist’, and noting ‘together we are an endless conversation’…

‘Rooting’… wow.

‘Honour the roots’. Refugees, immigrants, ancestry and legacy all in one…

‘Falling’ was a difficult powerful section of the book. Particularly ‘home’, ‘the underrated heartache’, and ‘the art of growing’.

Some good quotes in the first section ‘Wilting’:

‘the bricks will grow tired of waiting and crumble…’ p.22 (the construction site of our future)

‘what do you think happens to the love that’s left behind…’ p.45 (questions)

p.50/52/53 short catchy lines.
