Ari, after breaking his leg while trying to save Dante from the car, feels new intensive emotions while in the Hospital. He feels overwhelming emptiness and is in a depressive state of mind. Nevertheless he healthily works through these emotions and grows from it.

Ari feels pressure to deviate within his family. However for him, this isn't possible, his brother was the type of person as Ari but he landed in prison. His family does not allow ANY talk of Ari's brother, and Ari says that it feels like his brother is, in a sense, dead. This unspoken rule might make him worry that he could end up like his brother.

Upon starting the book, it was just what I expected from my quick read. I really enjoy the writing style, the setting is pleasant, and the main character acts as a good reflection of myself. So far, I'm really enjoying it.

The author of the book commonly makes the reader feel uncomfortable with his use of an odd sounding language used throughout the book and the heavy use of violence.

Anthony Burgess will often use Description in “A Clockwork Orange”, using the books context-heavy dialect though.

My plan for researching tomorrow is to learn more about the dialect used in my book. Burgess uses a weird contextual language in the book and I want to know what drove him to using it.

On page 28, Anthony Burgess utilizes description heavily in sections such as fight scenes or dangerous situations between characters. Alex reaches over his friend Georgie to Dim and "fisted Dim skorry in the rot" (Burgess 28). This simple use of description helps me understand and recognize the structure Burgess writes with.

On page 19, Anthony Burgess uses personification in a rather striking way. The main character's car, a Durango 95 "ate up the road like spaghetti" (Burgess 19). Though this may be a common use of personification, I think his use of diction throughout the book is unique.
