I just started reading this book and at the beginning the main character, Ephraim, finds his mother unconscious on their kitchen counter. Ephraim tries to wake his mother up when she starts yelling at him that he is dead. I am excited to keep reading and see what happened that caused Ephraim's mother to make these accusations.

The tone of the story is mysteriously suspenseful.

"Everyone was a piece of a big machine." This shows how everyone at the hospital in the book was being treated inhumanly. They were treating them as they were only there to do work and get things done, and not as an actual human.

In the book the main characters are struggling to survive. The weather is getting colder and it is very hard to stay warm. Everyday more and more people are dying and it is crucial that everyone is able to get food to keep themselves healthy.

Currently in my book I am learning about a lot of the very harsh conditions that everyone is living in. The thing that amazed me the most was the fact that the characters would go days at a time without eating.

The setting in this book takes place during world war II. The main character explains a lot of small and crowded rooms. She also describes that it smells very bad.

I inferred that the main character is missing her sister. I infer this because the author says that she wishes her sister was in her lap in her arms. This shows that she is wishing she was with her sister.

In this part of the book the main character got taken away from her younger sister Larissa. This happened because she was a jew. During the time this event took place, jews were taken from their families by nazis

I started reading this book because I really enjoy learning more and more about world war 2.

Rowan turned on Goddard and got very aggressive with him. He ended up killing the scythe.

Rowan confronted Goddard about how he is a killer and what he is doing is wrong.

There is another conflict that just happened in this book. Rowan is getting ready to glean someone but he can't do it. He says he does not feel that we will be able to.

Does the author create suspense? I think the author creates suspense by continually switching point of views from Citra and Rowan. It makes it so you have to read a lot more to understand what is really happening.

The antagonist in my book is high-blade xenocrates. He is making either Rowan or Citra glean each other.

The person that has the most power in my book is the high blade. They control all the scythes and tell them what to do.

I think the characters are very likable in this book. They are teenagers and some of their decisions are very relatable to some I've made in my life.

My book talked about some weird encounters throughout history. I don't know if they are made up stories or if they are really real.

My book talked about art that was found in a cave but nobody is quite sure where it came from. I wonder if they will ever find someway to figure out what time period it is from.

My book doesn't have a main character as it goes through real stories and a lot of them. In my book it talked about the value of art and what art truly is to people. It was interesting to have a different perspective on what people thing about their own art.

In my book it talks about how art is very important throughout history. It also talks about how valuable art truly is and compares it to other valuable objects.

My book talked about how art thief's have been very popular all throughout history.

In my book today I read three stories. One was about steroids and how they help athletes. Another was about why a boxing ring is a square. The last was about corked bats and how they help baseball players.

My story doesn't really have a main character because it is a lot of short and true stories. Something interesting that I learned from my book is that in Muhammad Ali's famous picture he might not of actually hit the guy.

In the book it talked about how the sport of baseball came to be and who created it.

I noticed a fragment in this sentence:

He managed to escape justice until 2006 when he was sentenced to 20 years in prison. 20 years.

The motif I noticed in my book was the repeating idea of mystery. Everything that seems to have happened is still a mystery.

I wonder how some of the "haunted" houses came to be so haunted.

In my book it is a lot of short and quick new stories. I think this will continue and there will be more stories about unsolved murders.

I am just surprised at how many real life murders people are no able to figure out. It sounds like a fiction story but things have really happened.
