When we were happy we had other names. This one, a reread, is not a comfortable read but it’s great. Only one story left now

Let Mothers Doubt. Another new one. All these are great examples of what short stories are, snapshots of characters’ lives (not always though of course)

A flawless silence. I can’t remember if I’ve read this before or not

The longest story yet: Such common life

On the street where you live. Also a new one.

A small flame. The first story I haven’t read before. Not a favorite but Li is good at telling us more about a character than what is written out on the page

Hello, Goodbye. Reread. Another solid story. Reflective but funny at times.

Second story, A Sheltered Woman, also a reread. I liked this one better this time.

First story, the title story, a reread. Still amazing, brutal yet not really depressing. Li’s writing is phenomenal.

I AM SO PSYCHED!!! FINALLY!!!! I’ve just read the first chapter and I just know, to no one’s surprise, that I will love this one too. I mean the first line is already a banger: ”The hardest thing in the world is to live only once.” God I love literature!

Who’s a better narrator for lotr then Andy Serkis? Give me a name. Yeah I thought so, no one. I can’t wait for when he gets to voice Gollum later on. He should’ve won every possible award for that role. Anyway, his reading of lotr is the audiobook you should choose. Makes a comfy book even comfier.

This book inspires me like no other. This is how I want to be able to write

Yup it’s still the best book I’ve read. There’s so much to unpack here, about language and names, about race and color, about war, about the relationship of a mother and child, about (toxic) masculinity, about want and wanting to convey something to a person who it cannot reach, about (mis)understanding.
