I’m worried I’m inching towards a reading slump. I just can’t find the spark since I finished the Wedding People.

I’m really enjoying this so far, but is anyone else disappointed when things like COVID or modern politics are mentioned in novels (that aren’t directly tackling those topics)? It just fills me with dread and pulls me back into reality, no matter how small the moment is.

I’m not religious so those parts don’t add anything for me, but it isn’t overbearing. There are some seemingly pointless political statements that are taking me out of the story.

“The morning is wiser than the evening”

I’m enjoying this audiobook, although it’s become a bit slow in the middle. I think I like it mostly because I just recently moved from an urban sprawl to a more quaint Vermont (although still sheltered from the really rural areas that I now long for). There is a lot of exaggeration and humor, but much of the initial lovable culture shock resonates.

I LOVE Phoebe’s dry, dark humor and this author’s whole writing style.

Just the innate desperate need to be known, seen, understood

I don’t think I can stand hearing “my ladies” one more time but the narrator is incredible and the story is keeping me going
