2024: the year of reading what makes me happy and not worrying about meeting a reading goal. Comics rule, end of story.

Last Exit to Brooklyn (Evergreen Book)
Absolutely devastating and I can't believe I haven't read it sooner. This is DEFINITELY my type of book in pretty much every aspect, and I'm honestly sad I only have 200 pages left of it to experience.

Inferno (The Divine Comedy, #1)
Reading this in a Mario voice for that extra Italian effect and it's kind of making things less scary and disturbing :/ but overall I mean come on its goddamn Dante's Inferno you know what it is

On god I'm going to become fluent in Nasdat for no reason other than to just annoy people with gibberish and be like "but it's a language though!"

The Trial
This is actually "all vibes no plot" the book so far. Nothing meaningful is happening. The main character is a dumb asshole. Some of the scenarios are interesting but so far I'm VERY disappointed. Maybe I just "don't get it"?

Never Mind (Patrick Melrose, #1)
I thought that the Patrick Melrose novels names matched up with the episodes of the mini-series. I was very incorrect, but so far this first book is fantastic, despite how grim it feels so far.

Robert Eggers needs to make a black and white 3- hour Moby Dick film ASAP and no one can tell me otherwise. Epic and horrific whale hunting scenes with horrifying music and visuals using practical effects. It feels criminal he hasn't already done it tbh.

The audacity of this mf to just write encyclopedic entries about whales and whaling constantly in the middle of his narrative is equally fascinating and frustrating

Now that I know Ishmael literally hates Moby Dick because he's a white whale, I'll never not find that funny.

No one ever told me Moby Dick was funny as hell and heartwarming in the beginning and low-key gay like what the hell this is fantastic! Can't believe it was written in the 1800's.
