i’ve wanted to continue reading my ancient egypt book SO bad but alas have not had any time with university kicking my butt. this book is one which i have actually been forced to read for my teaching english assessment - a text im supposed to use to plan a scope and sequence for a year 9 class. riveting, i know. however, weirdly enough, i find myself enjoying it! a bit young adult for sure, but captivating!

you read so much and yet don’t make a dent. very close to middle kingdom egypt and then it’s time for the return of all of our baddies for the reunification of upper and lower egypt after expelling the hyksos 🥳🥳🥳

banging. love it. there’s three perspectives in here but cassandra’s one is like super duper limited (which i like!!!) and it’s also the only perspective that’s written in third person which is a nice little tidbit. i like it barker!

hilarious that i’ve read so many rewrites of agamemnon and the return from troy that im able to point out every little inaccuracy….

i am really enjoying this though!!! it feels so good to get back into my ancient greece niche

look, i did say i was going to continue reading the red queen series, AND I WILL…. eventually. but dude i was able to read this for an hour and get through 50 pages i read aveyards shit for an hour and get through 15 out of pure boredom i just needed a BREAK.

this is good so far! i’ve read sooooooo many books at this point about troy so i feel very within my depths here

3 perspectives and not one of them good. it’s somehow a unique talent possessed by author victoria aveyard.

guys i’ve actually completed my assessment now without having finished the book but im genuinely quite enjoying myself so i want to finish it anyways lol

reading this one for class but honestly can’t help but giggle at austen’s subtle mockery of literally everyone

look. i AM making it through this book. we’ve just gotta accept that it’s probably gonna happen a little slower than some of the other books ive read. i’m trying my best, but mare is a constant pain in my ass.

finally back into the red queen series! it’s been a long time coming. but just quietly - one of the bit of praise at the start compares aveyard’s world building to the likes of GEORGE R. R. MARTIN??? can everyone be so unbelievably serious right now
