Re-reading in preparation for reading the prequels.

I'm going to mark this one as DNF. There's no plot to speak of, just a series of short page-length or shorter recountings of various scenes - summer camp, night club, prep school dayroom, etc.
I read several chapters and it didn't seem to be going anywhere. I may return to this later (never say never!) but for now I'm gonna let it go...

Fwiw, the edition I'm reading is the Ulverscroft Large Print Series edition published for F.A. Thorpe, Ltd.
Oversized (8 1/2"x11") and not really suited for reading while walking downtown.

Reading this for the second time, none of it has seemed familiar - until 250 pages in, when they get to the port, and they're staying at the Doll House next door to the witches' coven.

Slow progress. I'm finding it difficult to get into the different rhythms of early 19th-century prose.

I read the three main titles in the series over three years ago; hopefully I can remember the key plot points and characters so I'm not completely confused!

I'm getting the strong feeling that I've read this before, and just never added it to my Goodreads lists. Which does make it a bit less exciting, because I've heard all the jokes before.

Less than 10 pages in, and I looked to confirm my suspicions - no co-author on this one. Patterson's writing is full of cliches.
