“Sociopath” and “psychopath” are not interchangeable terms and I wish this book wouldn’t treat them like they are

This is one of those books that reminds me why I love to read. That contains the kind of prose I wish I had the talent to write. Astonishingly beautiful.

Astrid is basically the lesbian version of myself + a drug problem and I don’t know how to feel about it

This is unrelentingly horrifying

This is beginning to be a bit of a slog but I MUST KNOW THE ENDING

This has everything I liked about The Great Believers with the added bonus of being much more up my alley in terms of plot, subject matter, setting etc. I’ve been in a massive reading slump lately but this might be pulling me out of it.

Apparently I’ve been too happy lately so now I need to indulge in emotional masochism via literature

I can’t believe I’m reading this, who even am I anymore

There are a handful of books that bump against my tolerance for disturbing stuff and this is one of them.

I cannot believe this is a debut novel. It’s blowing me away.

This book is friggin NASTY

This is the saddest book I’ve read since A Little Life. Jeez.

There’s unlikable protagonists...and then there’s the protagonist of this book. Ugh.

I think Bella might have a condition. She “tilts her head to one side” more than my pugs did.

Thoughts so far:

- Edward is even more of a homicidal maniac than I thought and his thought processes are creepier than I could have possibly imagined.

- I’m ashamed that this book is almost as long as The Goldfinch, which I’ve been attempting to finish for years, and that I’m choosing to read this and NOT The Goldfinch.

- HOW HAS NOTHING HAPPENED YET

I couldn’t resist ugh I hate myself

I can already tell that this book isn’t going to be good, but at least it’ll be entertaining

Heaven knows why I of all people want to read a goofy romance book. But here we are.
