Is this book trying to be a relatable coming of age mental health awareness novel for teens and young adults or the angst trauma porn Olympics? Whoever genuinely enjoys this book either needs to be checked into a mental health hospital stat or need their hardrives checked. And both probably have some type of piss kink or something

Not to mention how senselessly over the top this book tries to be with what Henry goes through. Any excuse to wave a foam finger at his misery. Getting beat up by his abusive brother whose actions are excused by the author, Jesse’s suicide (which Jesse is blamed for??), getting beat up in the school bathroom and his picture of it going viral, the incident at the Apple Store, almost being raped, etc etc and for what

Holy cornball. Of course this book would make a rape attempt an excuse to show how badass the love interest and how weak Henry is. I’m sick of the amount of needless violence in this book that is used for nothing but perpetual angst and to give characters a reason to protect Henry from everything. Not once in this whole book did Henry fight his own battles, always someone doing it for him over and over and over

Diego hid nothing from Henry. His past is nothing for Henry to know and, as you saw, him trauma dumping abt it on their Christmas Eve dinner didn’t do shit. I’m so sick of Henry being written like we’re supposed to empathize with him when in actuality he is finding any reason from anybody to be hurt by them to excuse his own actions and mentality. Is he supposed to grow? Bc 400 pages in he’s still the same??

He’s an angry drunk that just beat the shit out of you. What do you mean you think he would’ve been a good dad? He told everyone that you were being abducted and your life has been terrible since? I’m so confused why is he acting like Charlie has nuance when he’s been nothing but a pos that had a moment of clarity bc he thought he was gonna be a dad

Have they grown at all? Why is this book so long

Don’t understand the the logic behind fatherhood making Charlie a better person, but making it so that Henry has to work on himself before he can be better because a relationship can’t fix him. What the hell is the author even trying to say anymore

They have the same conversations every chapter just with different words. The author makes the same three points every chapter with different words and edgy metaphors

It’s like a gacha life video. Who trauma dumps to their situationship’s family over dinner on Christmas Eve. I think the author snuck into earth or has genuinely never met another human being

I don’t think the author has ever worked in an Apple Store because ik Apple employees can’t do that. Plus how would he even know Henry was going to the Apple Store that day did he just like have photos saved on every model phone in the store just in case of the off chance Henry walked into to store?

Yes keep complaining about how worthless you are to people so the feel obligated to make you feel good about yourself while you go through attention seeker Olympics and the author wants us to empathize with you yes yes wonderful exactly yeah

If I took a shot for every-time the author repeated something he wrote in every chapter, specifically pertaining to Jesse, or repeat Henry’s stagnant character growth with the same ideas he’s been spouting since the first paragraph of the book I would be dead

Dude these shit metaphors and similes could actually kill someone

The tone in this stupid story shifts every three seconds. Rushing a sibling bonding arc in two pages over breaking a wall that is an in your face metaphor about why Henry’s problems are enough reason to end the world for everyone else wonderful wow amazing

I can’t stop complaining abt this book but the way the turn on the dime when it comes to their emotions has me in agony

I hate when characters share vague, sensitive information about themselves and then get mad when people obviously want to know more or are confused. Like why would you even bring it up if you didn’t want anyone to know about it?

This book is trying so hard to be indie coming of age angst teen queer mental illness awareness sci-fi relatable it’s actually making my stomach curdle

Dude everything abt Henry and Marcus relationship feels so fanficy and unrealistic. Like ik toxic relationships are real but it’s like if the author read the book “Toxic Relationship Stereotypes for Dummy’s” and copy and pasted everything the read onto this book im crine. Euphoria ass book

God I hate self conceded characters that try to blame suicide on themselves. It wasn’t Audrey’s fault that she was sick of being Jesse’s therapist because he refused to get help. Henry wants so badly to be the one to blame for Jesse’s death, the only one that suffered because of it. God what a self-centered piece of shite Henry is I hope when he refuses to save the world only he blows up
