At times, this book skips plot points or jumps past emotional developments. It is however intellectually stimulating and an engaging read.

I think it's important to remember this book was actually published in the 1960s and was an important development for its era. So, while it's not the best book I've ever read, I would recommend reading for the sake of queer history.

So male gazey. Book follows a lesbian, but the author is a dude and writes her as if she's a dude. Focuses so much on the MC being ashamed of being gay and her partner being someone who sticks by her no matter what. Honestly imo author depicts the partner on a pedestal and her character lacks any real depth other than supporting the MC. In that aspect, the partner is dehumanized.

Alot of great queer history!
