This is a great book, but boy am I ready to read something else.

I swear I checked this out from the library before the current wildfires in California.

I truly do not know what's happening in this book right now. I don't think I've ever felt that way in a Stephen King novel before.

Boy, there is sure nothing happening in this book so far. I hope some plot happens soon.

Is this whole book a super-rich white lady Karen-ing her way thru a murder mystery? Because that is a wild choice. I don't think its meant to be a parody or anything, but she literally demands to speak to her lawyer like a half a dozen times in the first hundred pages.

The first chapter of this book is super dumb. I might have made a mistake.

There's a LOT of casual racist language in this book that should have been removed with the 1990 revision. I don't remember it being this bad from my first two reads.

Shy's abuse of Temple is much less funny upon reread than it was in 2010 and I didn't enjoy it then either.

James Spader being super upfront about doing the Office for the money is delightful.

I realize most readers won't pick up on this but characters in this book keep talking about Asheville like it's near them on the North Carolina coast. Asheville's like 8 hours by car from the coast. I can't figure it out and it's really distracting me. One character's mom drove to Asheville on 1950s roads, I guess, to buy him a bike?

This book reads like the author is practicing English as a second language. The prose is terrible.

Vic Moretti is THE WORST.

This is a call out sick kind of book. (Not that I've ever done that.)

Selvin has a real gift for suggesting someone is using cocaine without saying someone is using cocaine.

One thing this book definitely gets right is that Han Solo only pretends to be cool, but he's really the most uptight guy around.

I really wish this was better.

A thought: If your story's structure requires a character to break in every few chapters to say, "Hurry up. None of this is important," you've got a problem.

I marked this as "read" at some point here on Goodreads, but I don't remember ever having read it. I'm sorry to took me so long because this book is just amazing.

Craig Johnson's women characters are a real problem for this series. So far, this book has been the worst offender yet.

Bronson Pinchot's idea of a "North Carolina accent by way of Glasgow" is to start each sentence "Southern" and end it Scottish. It's really weird.

My enjoyment of this book has taken a major dive over the last 50 pages.

There's a surprisingly thoughtful look at the rise of authoritarianism in this book. It's not subtle - being a Star Wars novel - but its super relevant to today's political climate. The world needs some Princess Leias.
